During colonial times in America, refined sugar was commercially sold in tall, conical shapes known as sugar cones, a form resulting from the processing techniques of the era, and these were typically wrapped in blue paper and sealed with wax. Colonists used specialized tools called sugar nips to cut off pieces of the hard sugar, or they might grind it using a mortar and pestle, as white refined sugar was a precious commodity that was often stored carefully. Serve for decoration purpose only in the awesome next year pewter collection, etc. the overall size is approximately 4 inches tall and the base is 2.5 inches around.
